Sheshi Poojarthi (96) died on Saturday night, June 7th. No vehicle could reach the house to take her mortal remains to the burial site as the road connection to her house was cut off by the floods.
As the area around the house was inundated and the burial spot was at Kambalakatta Beedubadi in Moodabettu, the family members figured that it was not possible to carry the mortal remains there. Hence the family members were forced to take measures into their own hands.
Since it was impossible to get a boat, the family members tied air-filled rubber tubes of a heavy vehicle to an ambulance stretcher from Kota village panchayat limits and ferried the mortal remains of Seshi through the floods after conducting its final rites. They ferried the corpse in this way till Bidu Kere in Katapady, from where they then took the mortal remains on an ambulance to the burial site at Kambalakatta Beedubadi in Moodabettu where she was finally laid to rest.
