Nearly 28 years after the demolition of Babri Masjid, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ram Mandir at UP's Ayodhya will be held today. While the Bhumi pujan for Ram Mandir is being celebrated throughout the country, a Twitter hashtag Land of Ravan began trending on Twitter since today morning. The hashtag seems to have been started by Tamilians who believe themselves to be descendants of Ravana. "Ramayana is a racist epic which portrays Tamils and South Indian people as despicable, cruel, monsters, monkeys, Rakshashas and Asuras. Rama is not our God but Ravana is our emperor," said a Twitter user. Meanwhile few twitter users urged not to create a North-South divide on this historical day. Here are few tweets: As per Indian mythology, Ravan was the demon king who abducted Sita, wife of Lord Ram to avenge the insult of his sister Surpanaka. In the ensuing period, Lord Rama waged a war with Ravana and defeated him. His return to Ayodhya, after 14 years of exile is celebrated as Diwali in the country even today.
