Kanakapura: A man, who had been to his hometown for celebrating Sankranti festival, was hacked to death with a machete, reportedly due to an illicit relationship, in Terinadoddi village here.
The victim Jagdish (28) of Terinadoddi village in Kasaba Hobli, was allegedly murdered by Ramu (35) of the same village.
Ramu, a married man with 2 children, was angry about his wife’s extramarital relationship with Jagadish. The couple fought over the issue many times. The village elders had intervened and negotiated a truce between the warring couple, sources said.
Despite this, Jagadish continued his relationship. Frustrated and infuriated, Ramu decided to eliminate Jagadish, once and for all, sources added.

At around 8 pm on Saturday, Ramu approached Jagadish who was sitting at the bus stop from behind, and violently hit his head with a machete, killing him on the spot. Thereafter, he surrendered himself at the rural police station along with the murder weapon.
Police conducted investigations at the crime scene and handed over the mortal remains of the victim to his kin after an autopsy.
Police said the accused Ramu tested positive for Covid and is being treated at a hospital.
A case has been registered at the rural police station in this regard.
