“Read and Write” campaign to begin on April 2: Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru: Karnataka Education Minister, Suresh Kumar said that Central Government’s “Read and Write” campaign will begin on April 2. The primary objective of this campaign is to provide education to 3.20 lakh people by May 2021  in Karnataka

The scheme prioritizes those districts where the female literacy rate is less than 60 percent

Suresh Kumar said that the campaign will be held in 24 taluks, 219 gram panchayats, and 19 urban areas of Raichur, Yadagiri, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, and Chamarajanagar districts. He said that after the completion of the course, a certificate will be issued by the department to the students who have passed the examination.

The primary goal of this campaign is to provide education to 2.4 lakh women and 80,000 men who are 15 or above 15 years of age. Of the 1.26 crore illiterate people identified in the state, 57 lakh people have already been educated, he said
