"Real, quiet hero": Anand Mahindra praises fruit seller's actions

Indian billionaire and Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra, retweeted a video shared recently by Adarsh Hedge on social media. The video captures the actions of a fruit vendor at Ankola bus stand in Karnataka, who sells fresh fruits in banana leaves to customers.

The video showcases how the elderly woman takes the responsibility of cleaning up the mess created by her customers. She collects the used plates and cleans up the area around the bus stand. “This lady is fruit seller & she sells fruits wrapped in leaves at Ankola Bus stand,Karnataka. Some people after finish eating they throw the leaves from bus window. But this lady goes there picks up the leaves and puts it in dustbin. Its not her work but she’s doing it,” Adarsh Hegde wrote explaining the woman’s actions.

The small gesture of the fruit vendor touched the hearts of not just Adarsh Hedge, who shared the video on social media, but also Anand Mahindra. The Chairman of Mahindra Group shared the video on Twitter, along with a heart-touching message.

In his tweet, Anand Mahindra praised the fruit vendor for her efforts and highlighted the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions. “These are the real, quiet heroes making Bharat Swachh. I really would like her to know that her efforts have not gone unnoticed & are appreciated. How do you suggest we can do that? @adarshahgd can you find someone who lives in that area & can contact her?”, Mr Mahindra wrote.

The tweet from Anand Mahindra sparked a conversation among netizens about the importance of recognizing the efforts of such unsung heroes who work tirelessly to make a positive impact on society. Many people shared their own experiences of witnessing similar incidents and praised the fruit vendor for her small but effective contribution to society.

Pankaj Shankar, a Twitter user, expressed his admiration for the fruit vendor and wrote, “It’s a reality that the weak and poor have a much robust sense of responsibility towards society in comparison to the fortunate and the rich!”
