Samarasya Nadige Sauhardatheyedege starts off at Farangipete

Bantwal: “Samarasya Nadige Sauhardatheyedege” an initiative to promote communal harmony, a harmony walk organized under the leadership of  DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai with the participation of various secular organizations commenced at Farangipete today.

The walk is meant to restore harmonious coexistence and peace in the district. Walk for the rally will be followed by a public meet at Mani and the dais of the programme has been named after Harish Poojary. Security has been beefed up in sensitive areas such as Farangipet, Kaikamba, BC Road and Kalladka.

 “Dakshina Kannada is always known for peace and harmonious coexistence but some communal forces have meddled with peace and harmony through acts of violence which have harmed the reputation of the district. Organizations which are involved in murders have been excluded from this walk for harmony. This programme has not been organized under the banner of any political party and it is open to all peace-loving citizens,” Rai said on the occasion.

Ramanath Rai added,” Since the last couple of months, Dakshina Kannada has been witnessing incidents of communal violence and it is necessary that this district should maintain peace and harmony. We should walk together peacefully not only today but for all our lives. Without interrupting traffic or disturbing others we should walk for peace. All the people should join hands in restoring peace in the district,” he pleaded.

Actor Prakash Rai, former minister Amarnath Shetty,  MLAs, J R Lobo, K Abhayachandra Jain, Vasanth Bangera, Shakuntala Shetty, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MP Ibrahim,  CPI(M) leader Srirama Reddy, DYFI State President Muneer Katipalla, District Wakf Advisory  Committee   President  Kanachur Monu,  CPI State Secretary Siddana Gowda Patil, DCC President Harish Kumar,  Cashew Corporation Chairman B H Khader, former ZP Chief Mamatha Gatti, Rajavarma Ballal and many others were present.
