Sea erosion intensifies at Ullal and Someshwar; People fear losing homes

Ullal: With the beginning of the monsoon, the sea erosion at Ullal and Someshwar has intensified, with more than 20 houses at Ullal Seaground in the danger of collapsing.

A part of the boulder wall, constructed at Kileraia Nagar near Seaground to stop the advancing sea from eroding the beaches, remains unfinished. Due to this, locals say, the erosion has increased in Seaground.

The Compound walls of houses near the beach have crashed under the battering sea waves. Many houses are also facing danger due to the advancing seas.

MLA U T Khader visited the danger zone and instructed the district administration to take emergency measures. He also spoke to the Minister for Fisheries, Ports, and Inland Transport Department S Angara over the phone and discussed the plight of the locals.
