Six people stranded near Narayanpur dam rescued by IAF

Raichur: Indian Air Force on Sunday rescued six persons, including a pregnant woman, who were stranded near Narayanpur Dam in Raichur district. A pregnant woman in need of medical aid was attended to by an #IAF medical officer onboard the helicopter and later transferred to a hospital on landing. #KarnatakaFloods2019," the IAF tweeted. "The well executed rescue, made difficult by low light and inclement weather, was one of many such operations being undertaken by #IAF towards #FloodRelief. IAF is committed to providing succour and relief to people affected by the floods," IAF said in another tweet. The rescue operation was made difficult by low light and inclement weather, the Air Force said. Meanwhile, schools and colleges in Raichur and other affected districts will remain closed till August 15, informed sources. The floods and rains have left a trail of destruction in vast areas of north, coastal and Malnad districts of the State. Other affected districts include Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Belagavi, Yadgiri, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Chikkamagalur.
