State cabinet approves new employment policy, 43 lakh students to get pair of shoes

Bengaluru: The state cabinet has given nod to recommendations for a new employment policy and giving away of shoes to 43 lakhs school-going children.

In the cabinet meeting held on Friday, the government decided to provide more employment opportunities to the Kannadigas while extending the investments in the industries. This policy will be applicable from 2022 to 2025.

As per the reports, industries have been bifurcated as small, medium, and large-scale in terms of investment. The jobs will be of Group A and B categories. This will include local job seekers.

According to the revised policy, industries investing more than Rs. 25 crores shall create additional 20 job vacancies for Kannadigas. Similarly, for industries investing more than Rs. 100 crores shall create 35 vacancies. The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) will be looking into the policy and changes to be made on a timely basis.

The cabinet has decided to upgrade the Mysuru Airport and name it Nalvadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar Airport.

It will also be issuing a circular on providing more facilities to the construction workers and labourers.

43 lakhs school-going children to get pair of shoes

The state cabinet has given a nod to distribute a pair of shoes and two pairs of socks to 43 lakhs children. The project is estimated to be worth Rs. 132 crores.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media, State Law Minister J C Madhuswamy has said, “The state government has decided not to implement the Kasturirangan Report. We will submit a letter to the Centre on this”.
