Devanahalli: Passengers at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have voiced concerns about the increasing presence of stray dogs on the premises. While stray dog issues are common in urban and rural areas, witnessing large numbers of stray dogs around an international airport is unusual.

The dogs have become a persistent issue near Terminals 1 and 2, frequently seen around the arrival and departure gates. They are even seen resting in passenger lounge areas and following people near food outlets, sometimes seeking food. Recently, a Burmese national shared images of stray dogs roaming within Terminal 2 on social media platform X, highlighting the unusual sight.

Passengers have urged airport authorities to take immediate steps to control the stray dog population to avoid disruptions to airport cleanliness and security. Some passengers have expressed concerns about dogs potentially following people carrying food or luggage, creating an uncomfortable and sometimes alarming situation.

In response, KIA officials apologized to passengers inconvenienced by the stray dogs, confirming that measures are underway to manage the issue. Passengers like Vasant emphasized, “Steps must be taken to ensure passengers are not followed or disturbed by stray animals. The airport authority should prioritize a solution.”
