Addressing the media on Thursday he said, “The reports suggest that the second dose vaccination has crossed 100 percent, but the booster/third dose has reached only 17 percent mark. It’s sad to see that although lakhs of vaccines are made available for free, people are not willing to take them. We are requesting people to take the booster shot as it helps in immunity boosting. By this, getting admitted to hospitals and death rates can be curtailed”.

Speaking about the reports on the negligence of a few hospitals in admitting Covid patients, he said, “We have received complaints on private hospitals avoiding admission of Covid patients. This is inhumane and will not be tolerated at any cost. Stringent action will be taken against such hospitals”.

On questions about wearing masks, the minister said, “We are observing negligence related to wearing masks. I urge the people to follow all the safety protocols. Currently, there are no suggestions received by the government for imposing penalties for not wearing masks. If required, we will decide on it”.

Meanwhile, providing information on the new vaccine “Corbevax” indigenously developed Hyderabad based company Biological E, Dr. Sudhakar said, “The Centre has approved Corbevax as a booster dose. From tomorrow onwards (August 12) people can avail it. Persons above 60 years of age and people having comorbidity must take the booster dose”.
