Student labourer's ordeal ends; philanthropists pay for his nursing degree

Udupi: Bagalkot resident and student of BSc Nursing Sashikumar working as a labourer here to earn the money for his course fees has now seen a change in his fortune after Udayavani reported about him. Soon after the publication of his story, Bengaluru-based Shivalinayya contacted Shivakumar urged him to immediately return to the college and assured that he will pay his fees. Gurumurthy and Kumar G from Bengaluru, a farmer from Sulliya Shivaram Bhat and his son Dr Ramachandra Bhat also said that they would help Shivkumar. After these developments, Shashikumar left for Bagalkote on Thursday, October 29 and took admission at the Hanagal Kumareshwar Medical College on the morning of October 30. Shahsikumar had needed Rs 60,000 as course fees for his nursing degree. He had been working in Udupi for a month to earn his fees. He got the job through his father Chandappa who has been living near Udupi's Karavali junction for 20 years. Retired principal of Purnaprajna College here Dr AP Bhat, who was approached by Shashikumar for work, stated that Shashikumar's problem has been solved. However, there are still so many such students who are experiencing such hardships. They need to be uplifted.
