Surathkal: Gas leak fire tragedy - Woman succumbs to injuries

Surathkal: A 72-year-old woman who suffered severe burns in a gas leak fire at Venkataramana Colony, Surathkal on December 18, passed away on December 26 while undergoing treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Pushpa.

Pushpa and her sister-in-law Vasanthi sustained critical injuries after a gas leak in the kitchen went unnoticed, leading to a fire when the stove was lit.

Local residents promptly alerted the family and helped rush the victims to the hospital.

Pushpa was admitted to a private hospital’s intensive care unit for 9 days but failed to recover.

Vasanthi, the wife of homeowner Vaman, remains in critical condition under intensive care.
