In an exclusive interview with Udayavani in Bengaluru on Wednesday, he claimed that a large network of criminals is providing Aadhaar cards and voter ids. We should condemn such vote bank politics behind such illegal activities. “Serious discussions about national security are the need of the hour,” he said.

Elaborating on the foreigners’ responsibilities in India he said, the foreigners should renew their expired passports within prescribed time limits. Failing to do so, they would be under the custody of the police. They wouldn’t be allowed to walk freely outside.

“I have advised officials to trace and apprehend illegal immigrants in the state. Every police station should have a record of it,” he said and added that he would conduct a review of it regularly.

Meeting with public prosecutors soon

There are allegations of failure of public prosecutors as the reason for the low conviction rate. In this regard, a meeting of the public prosecutors will be called after Dasara to discuss these issues and find appropriate solutions. The vacant positions of public prosecutors will be filled soon, he said.

Issuing summons through the post

In recent times, issuing summons in person to the accused in a case has been a challenging task for the police department. A policeman has to cover hundreds of kilometers just to serve a summons and sometimes even travel to other states. “Using a policeman like a postman isn’t wise. Even the high court has observed that summons could be served through mobile phones. The government is seriously thinking about hiring services of postal or private couriers for issuing summons. This will enable police personnel to focus more on law and order problems,” Jnanedra said.
