Amid the hijab controversy in Karnataka Priyanka Gandhi, on Wednesday tweeted, “Whether it is a bikini, a ghoonghat, a pair of jeans or a hijab, it is a woman’s right to decide what she wants to wear.”

Speaking to reporters here, Sumalatha said that one can wear a bikini on a beach or a pool but not to school. “There is a code everywhere. Religious practices should be followed in houses and not in schools. Students must follow the guidelines prescribed by the school or college that they are attending,” she said.

She further expressed concern on why the issue has suddenly cropped up now while hinting that vested interests are doing politics over the issue and playing with students’ future for their own gains.
