Tipu Jayanti Protests Stall Normal Life in Kodagu; Situation Turns Tensed in Many Parts of Karnataka

Madikeri/Mangaluru: Routine life stalled in Kodagu district following a bandh call by Hindu outfits to condemn state government sponsored Tipu Jayanti being celebrated in Karnataka today, November 10.

The protesters reportedly held protest march to Zilla Panchayat office in Madikeri wearing black ribbons to stop the authorities from organizing the jayanti. However, the police have reportedly taken number of protesters into their custody to maintain peace and security in the region. The protesters have also damaged a state owned bus in the town, sources said.

Meanwhile, in Dakshina Kannada, opposition BJP and other Hindu outfits have expressed their anger over the celebrations. Mangaluru based BJP leader Franclin Monthero reportedly taken into custody by the police when he arrived at the celebration venue.

Number of incidents of protests reported at various parts of the state including Mandya, Dakshina Kannada, Davangere, Chitradurga and others to condemn state government sponsored Tipu Jayanti.
