Udayavani “Chinnara Banna 2024” drawing competition begins from Oct 26

The prestigious children’s art competition “Chinnara Banna 2024,” organized by Udayavani in collaboration with Udupi Artists Forum, will commence its first phase on October 26 and 27.

The competitions, exclusively for students from classes 1 to 10, will be held in two stages — a preliminary taluk level contest and a final round.

The event will be held in the 9 centers of the Udupi, Kasaragod, and Dakshina Kannada districts in the first phase.

The taluk-level competition for Kasaragod and Manjeshwar will be held on October 26 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at St. Monica English Medium School (CBSE), Kumbla, near the Cooperative Hospital.

In the morning of October 27, competitions will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at:

  • Kadaba taluk at St. Joachim Community Hall, Kadaba.
  • Sullia taluk at KVG Law College, near Chennakeshava Temple, Sullia.
  • Kundapur taluk at H M M – V K R School, Basrur Muurkai, Kundapur.
  • Brahmavar taluk at Bantara Bhavana, opposite the bus stand, Brahmavar.

In the afternoon of October 27, competitions will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at:

  • Belthangady taluk at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Kala Bhavana, Santhekatte, Belthangady.
  • Puttur taluk at Brahmashri Narayanaguru Swamy Billava Sangha, Puttur.
  • Byndoor taluk at JNR Kala Mandira, Byndoor.
  • Hebri taluk at S.R. Public School, Hebri.

This year, competitions in both Kasaragod and Manjeshwar taluks have been introduced to encourage young talent from border areas.

Last year, more than 20,000 students from 16 taluks of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada participated in this grand competition. The second phase will be held on November 2 and 3 across 8 taluks.

The district-level finals for the top three winners from each taluk will take place in Mangaluru on November 10.

Competition Guidelines

  • Students from classes 1 to 3, and 4 to 7, can draw on a topic of their choice. Students in classes 8 to 10 will receive a topic on the spot.
  • Participants must register at the venue. Drawing sheets will be provided, but students must bring their own art supplies.
  • All participants will receive a certificate and gift hamper. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each category, and the results, along with the winners’ photos, will be published in Udayavani.
