Udupi: DC Jagadeesh instructs officials to prepare database for COVID-19 vaccine

Udupi: The Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has instructed officials of the Health Department to compile a database of all government and private health workers in the district as they will be administered first the COVID-19 vaccine which is in the last phase of development. He was speaking at a meeting of the District COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force at his office in Rajatadri. He assumed the presidency of the Force's coordination committee. The DC instructed to record all the details of physicians, nurses, lab technicians and paramedical staff in the 982 private medical institutions and 92 government medical institutions registered in the district under the KPME Act who will be administered the vaccine. In the second stage, the vaccine will be administered to the elderly and vulnerable persons, the DC added. He further instructed the health officials not to stop vaccination of children for any reason and to cover up soon all the pending vaccinations of children from the lockdown period. He also instructed that everything must be done to avoid the death of the mother during childbirth and advised extra care to be provided to those pregnant mothers who might suffer complications during childbirth. "COVID-19 cases are declining in the district along with COVID-19 deaths. The general public must adhere to the guidelines of mask-wearing and distancing until the pandemic is over," he said. Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Naveen Bhat, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Suda, District Surgeon Dr Madhusudan Nayak, Health Department officials, physicians from private hospitals and officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
