Udupi: Dr. Krishnamurthy Adhikari appointed medical head of Western Naval Command

Udupi: Dr. Krishnamurthy Adhikari, a native of Udupi, has assumed office as the Medical Chief of the Western Naval Command at the Indian Navy’s headquarters in Mumbai. He is the first person from the Udupi region to hold this prestigious position in the Navy.

Dr. Adhikari has served in various capacities in the Navy for over 33 years. He has held prominent roles, including Head of Pediatrics at INHS Asvini and AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College), as well as senior positions at INHS Dhanvantari and INHS Patanjali hospitals. Before assuming his current role as CMO, he served as ADGMS in the Indian Army on secondment.

A graduate of Mysore Medical College, Dr. Adhikari completed his MD in Pediatrics from AFMC, Pune. A specialist in Neurology, he has also earned an international fellowship FAIMER in Medical Education.

Dr. Krishnamurthy Adhikari hails from Kuradi in Barkur, Udupi district, and is the son of Mahabaleshwara Adhikari and Sumithra.
