Speaking to presspersons after a review meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat in Manipal, the minister said that the move is aimed at preventing irregularities by maintaining transparency, availing fair prices to poultry farmers, and cutting down middlemen. The NECC will be taking up all the necessary measures to prevent impropriety in the scheme, he added.
About the status of nourishment in the district, Halappa said Udupi district has reported 965 cases of child undernourishment, of which 725 are malnourished and 65 most malnourished. “The government is taking all necessary measures to address malnourishment. Quality food is being distributed to them,” he said.
He also informed that the state government has decided to increase the grants to old-age homes from Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs.
