Udupi man arrested for making hoax bomb calls to KIA

Udupi: An unidentified caller who had sent the police into a tizzy by making a series of hoax bomb calls to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) was finally arrested from near Baiyappanahalli here.

The anonymous caller, Aditya Rao(35), a resident of Udupi, presently residing in Bengaluru was identified by a special team formed for the purpose.

Over the last week he is said to have made three hoax bomb calls to KIAL. He had also made a similar call to the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station.  

Aditya had made the first such call on August 20 claiming that there was a bomb in the airport lobby. Later on August 22, he made a call to the nodal manager at the airport informing him that a bomb was placed in the luggage of AirAsia India flights heading to either Kolkata or Thiruvananthapuram. On Monday, August 27 Aditya once more made the hoax bomb calls to the airport and also to the KSR railway station.

It is gathered that Aditya is also wanted in a case pertaining to theft of a laptop from an insurance company where he was employed earlier.

Meanwhile, Aditya's motive behind placing these hoax bomb calls has not been established.
