Work on pumping water from the Panchanabettu environment to the Baje Dam was started from Thursday April, 9. The range of five pumps in the Panchanabattu range has been driven up to the Shiruru Dam.

MLA Raghupati Bhatt, Municipal Commissioner was present. Now the three pumps are installed and the water is lifted up and drains into the Shirur Dam. In the following days, two pumps were installed near the Shiruru Dam, raising all five pumps and draining the dam.

This will increase the water storage in the home. From here the water will be pumped as usual.

Speaking to reporters, Member of Legislative Assembly of Udupi, K Raghupati Bhat said, “We have pre-empted why the problem of drinking water should not come to the City Council this time before a problem arises. Last year, water was completely empty by May. This time it will be a continuous watering system to store the potable water in April.”

“Once the water is disconnected, it will not be able to regenerate. The water needs to be pumped to Shiruru before it is disconnected. If the water is left empty, there is no benefit. We have found ways to solve the problem before it happens,” he added.
