Udupi: Pet dog, pretends to be lifeless, survives leopard attack

A pet dog that was attacked by a leopard in Herga village’s Golikatte has miraculously survived the incident.

A CCTV footage of the incident, which took place at around 1 am, shows a leopard sneaking up to the dog and trying to carry it away by holding onto its neck.

The dog began barking upon sighting the predator and when attacked it pretended to be dead. Meanwhile, the pet owner Balachandra K woke up upon hearing the dog’s bark and switched on the lights.

This led to the leopard fleeing away leaving the dog behind. The canine has sustained several injuries to its neck and is being cared for inside the house.
