Udupi: Ramabai Kochikar Pai passes away in Los Angeles

Ramabai Kochikar Pai, aged 86, a member of the esteemed Tonse Pai family, breathed her last on April 11 in Los Angeles, USA. She is survived by her husband, Raghuram Kochikar Pai, and her children, Prasannakumar Pai and Dr. Udaya Kamath.

Having experienced the loss of her daughter, Vidyalakshmi Joshi, not long ago, Ramabai’s passing marks another somber moment for the family. Ramabai, the daughter of Tonse Purushottama Anantha Pai and Sundari Bai, was raised in Manipal under the guardianship of her uncles, T Upendra Pai and Dr. TMA Pai, after losing her parents at a tender age.

In 1981, Ramabai migrated to the United States, where she made her home with her husband, Raghuram K Pai, a distinguished engineer who served in various private companies.

Ramabai’s brother, Dr. Vitthal T Pai, and her sons-in-law, Dr. Ramdas Kamath and Rabindranath Joshi, continue to contribute to diverse fields in America.

The final respects for Ramabai Kochikar Pai will be paid on April 17.
