Udupi: Unidentified men refuse to pay repair costs; assault garage owner

Kaup: A garage owner at Katapady was allegedly assaulted by two men over a dispute about paying repair costs of a bike.

Th incident happened on March 16 at the Sri Devi Auto Works at Katapady Yenagudde. The garage owner, Keshav of Pangala Aryadi, has filed a complaint at the Kaup Police Station about the attack.

The unidentified customers arrived at the garage asking for the repair of a TVS Apache bike without a number plate. After the repair was complete, Keshav demanded to be paid Rs 400 for the services provided. But the accused offered to pay only Rs 250 immediately and the rest the next day.

When Keshav did not agree, the duo punched him and hit him with an engine case that was lying nearby. After the assault, the accused fled from the scene on the bike, the complaint says.

The men also issued death threats, Keshav alleged in his complaint.

Meanwhile, Kup police have taken up the investigation and are on the lookout for the assailants.
