Dakshina Kannada DC Dr. Rajendra KV informed that 12 of the 18 students stuck in Ukraine are in direct contact with their families. The rest are in touch with state agencies. Tehsildars have been sent to reassure the parents of these students in the district, he added.
Anaina Anna of Derebail in the city, who has begun her journey to Poland, has another worry. She is without a Indian passport which was collected by the agent who brought her to Ukraine. In a Twitter post, Anaina wrote “I am leaving the Kharkiv today without my passport. The agents have denied to give me my passport. The agent asked me to go and collect it when they were bombarding outside and then when asked to send somebody to collect it I was denied of my passport.” She also tagged the Twitter handles of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the post.

It may be recalled that Indian Embassy in Ukraine, on Tuesday, had issued an urgent advisory to all Indians to urgently vacate Kyiv and travel to the western borders as soon as possible.
