Ullal: Woman barges into wedding hall accusing groom of deceiving her

Mangaluru: The bride and the guests at a wedding near Beeri on Friday were left in disbelief as a young woman from Mysuru barged into the venue with police in tow, accusing the groom of marrying another woman. She also alleged that the groom of having physical relations with her and financial exploitated her on false promise of marriage.

The incident unfolded after the marriage ceremony had concluded. As the ruckus broke out the groom stealthily departed the venue.

It is gathered that the groom hailing from Kozhikode, Kerala, had purportedly tied the knot with a young woman from Mangaluru.

At the same time, the woman from Mysuru, accompanied by a police inspector of the Ullal Police Station, arrived there. She alleged that she had met the groom on a matrimonial website and the two had an intimate relationship.

Adding to the complexity, she said a rape complaint had been filed against the groom at a police station in Kerala. Despite the accused’s plea for anticipatory bail being dismissed by the court, the man proceeded with marrying the bride from Mangaluru, she alleged and called for his immediate arrest.

Rushed wedding

The rushed nature of the marriage also raised eyebrows. According to some guests, the groom hurriedly tied the knot upon his arrival at the wedding hall on Friday morning. He reportedly tied the sacred ‘taali’ around the woman’s neck before the priest had completed the ‘Homam’ rituals. It is alleged that the groom was aware of the impending arrival of the young woman from Mysuru.

Upon the woman’s arrival, the groom allegedly departed in his car to an undisclosed location. Reportedly, he later contacted the police.

Meanwhile, the bride and her family, taken aback by the unfolding drama, returned home from the wedding hall in shock.
