Two reward-carrying criminals and a policeman were injured in an encounter in the Bania Dher area in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police said. Bilal and Gulam had opened fire after a police team surrounded them, Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said, adding a policeman Vivek Yadav also sustained injuries in the cross-firing.
Uttar Pradesh Police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on both of them.
While the two were arrested, three others accompanying them managed to flee from the spot, they said.
Police found a calf, weapons used to slaughter cattle and two illegal items from the accused. A probe into the matter is on, they added.
