UP man hacks bank account, steals ₹10L to complete online game’s ‘dare’

A 20-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh allegedly hacked into a private school teacher’s bank account while playing an online game and stole ₹10 lakh

A private school teacher, Lal Srivastava, had lodged a complaint that a sum of 10 lkh had been stolen from his account between April 10 and May 12.

Azamgarh Police Chief (PS) Triveni Singh monitored the case and tasked the cyber cell unit to work on it.

Triveni Singh said, “We worked the case entirely on electronic evidence and surveillance. We tracked the cell phone used to hack Srivastava’s account”

The cell phones were tracked to a Sagar Singh and during the interrogation he confessed that he did so in order to complete a dare in Internet game called “Firepower”.

Sagar  said that he was asked to qualify difficult stages during which, he earned gold and diamond coins and game also taught him hacking tricks as he crossed stages.
