Bengaluru: Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday took a metro to reach Special Court, as traffic near Vidhana Soudha was affected due to protest by Valmiki community.
It is gathered that DK Shivakumar had to go to city civil court to attend a case, due to the protest by the Valmiki community members traffic movement halted, which forced the minister to take the metro to reach Special Court.
However, the special court dismissed the application filed by water resources minister, D K Shivakumar, seeking to drop his name from a case filed against him by the income tax department.
Valmiki community members are staging a protest in Bengaluru seeking 7.5% reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in employment and education. Valmiki community seer Prasannananda Puri Swamiji had started padayatra on June 9 in Davanagere.
The rally reached Bengaluru on today and they will be staging a protest at Freedom Park.
But before reaching the venue, protestors staged a stir in front of Vidhana Soudha, bringing the traffic to a halt. As no vehicles were moving for a long time, water resources minister DK Shivakumar took a metro at Vidhana Soudha station to go to city civil court, informed sources.
