He started his cycle tour from India Gate in Mumbai on October 2.

Mayure carriers around 30 kgs of luggage which includes a tent, sleeping bag, daily use items and cycle repair tools.

He says that cycling has been his passion right from childhood and it helps to keep him healthy. Sanjay manages to travel on a minimal budget by staying in temples, Gurdwaras, and eating langar food.

Mayure has been cycling since 1970 and he recently retired as Nayab Tahsildar of the revenue department at DM’s office.

At the age of 50, he cycled across 17 countries to encourage Indian Olympians during the Athens edition. During the trip, he was assaulted by a few miscreants in France who stole his money and cycle. Later, a kind-hearted NRI helped him finish his cycling journey.

He won many long-distance cycling races and earned the reward of ‘Ghatacha Raja’ (King of Ghats).

In January 2021 he did Narmada Parikrama of about 4000 km.
