A dispute erupted on Wednesday between Arun Kumar Puthila, a prominent figure formerly associated with the VHP and Bajrang Dal, and a few other workers involved in Hindu advocacy. The confrontation, occurring at a sacred location, has reportedly left Sangh Parivar leaders troubled by the internal discord.

VHP Central Secretary Expresses Displeasure

The central secretary of VHP, Gopal Ji, was present at the event where the altercation took place. Sources indicate that he voiced his frustration in an emergency meeting, pointing out the impact of this incident on VHP’s image, particularly within Puttur, which is known as a stronghold of Sangh Parivar with branches across the taluk. Attendees at the meeting expressed concern that this incident could send a wrong message about the organization’s unity.

Arun Kumar Puthila and Muralikrishna Hasantadka have since issued public statements, further fueling the debate. Their respective supporters have continued the dispute through social media, where exchanges have reportedly turned harsh and bitter.

Congress Concerns over MLA Ashok Kumar Rai’s Presence

Meanwhile, Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai’s participation in the VHP ground-breaking ceremony has stirred unease within the Congress party. Formerly associated with the BJP for two decades, Rai joined Congress just before the last Assembly elections, where minority community votes were instrumental in his victory. His presence at a VHP event has drawn criticism from certain Congress leaders, who have escalated their concerns to the party’s high command, arguing that association with Sangh Parivar events could alienate core supporters.

Muralikrishna Hasantadka, a Hindu organization leader, commented, “The recent developments have affected some members deeply. The criticisms directed at senior leaders within the organization have disappointed many, potentially fueling this situation. Elders will lead efforts to resolve the dispute and foster unity.”

Arun Kumar Puthila also defended his presence, stating, “As a VHP worker, I was there on the invitation of U. Poovappa, VHP’s regional vice president. The incident has hurt the Hindu community. It is vital for VHP and Bajrang Dal to prevent such incidents in the future.”
