Vijayapura: A horrific accident near the Bilebavi Cross in Talikote claimed the lives of five people on Friday, December 6. The incident involved a collision between a pigeon pea harvesting machine and a car.
Talikote police rushed to the scene and used a JCB machine to extract the bodies from the mangled car, highlighting the severity of the accident.

The deceased have been identified as residents of Aliyabad in Vijayapura. The victims include three men and two women: Ningappa Patil (55), Shantavva Shankar Patil (45), Bhimashi Sankanal (65), Shashikala Jainapur (45), and Dilip Patil (50).
The accident occurred as the car was travelling from Hunasagi in Yadgir district toward Aliyabad via Talikote. In an attempt to overtake a cruiser vehicle, the car collided head-on with the harvesting machine, leading to the tragic mishap.
It is gathered that the five victims were returning after attending a bride-seeing ceremony in Agni village of Yadgir district. The harvesting machine was en route from Talikote to Hunasagi.

The bodies were sent to the Basanbagewadi Community Hospital for post-mortem examination. The incident has been registered under the jurisdiction of the Talikote Police Station, and further investigations are underway.
