Vijayapura: GP Prez injured in celebratory firing during R-Day event

Vijayapura: A Gram Panchayat president sustained a bullet injury after a person allegedly fired in the air during the Republic Day celebrations in Indi taluk.

Hirerugi gram panchayat president Somavva was injured in the celebratory firing while she was present on the dais for unfurling the national flag.

Mallu Ginni, a youth of a pro-Kannada organisation is said to have fired in the air and it accidentally hit the gram panchayat president on her thigh. Somavva was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the city.

Indi rural police rushed to the spot and are investigating.
