Vijayapura: Villagers suspect youth is child-lifter, thrash him

Vijayapura: An unidentified youth was mistaken to be a child-lifter and beaten black and blue by the public.

The incident took place in Ittangila village.

As per reports, an unidentified man was wandering about the place for some time, villagers who grew suspicious about him caught hold of him assuming him to be a child-lifter. They then tied him to a pole and thrashed him.

After a tipoff, police personnel rushed to the village and tried to rescue him.

This is the latest in a series of worrying incidents across the state in which the public thrash a person on suspicions that he/she is a child-lifter.
