The victim, Aravind Bhaskar (39), a resident of Idkidu Kumeru, was strangulated to death, police said and added that they booked his wife and her acquaintance for the murder.

Police identified the accused to be Asaha and her friend Yogesh Gowda.

Police were involved after one of Aravind’s friends, Raghunath of Meginapet in Vitla Kasba village, suspected foul play in his untimely death and lodged a police complaint.

According to the complaint, Asha called her father to her residence on the morning of February 26 saying her husband was unresponsive. She had told her family that her husband had gone to sleep in the room at 10 pm the previous night but was not responsive when she tried to wake him up in the morning.

Aravind was taken to the Vitla Community Health Center where he was pronounced dead. However, the condition of the body raised suspicions about the cause of the death.

During the investigation, it was revealed Asha had teamed up with Yogesh and strangulated Aravind to death.

Aravind had reportedly started building a house about 2 years ago. Yogesh was employed for centering work. Asha and Yogesh were said to be friendly. Asha allegedly picked quarrels with Aravind over money. She and Yogesh had previously beaten him up.

Aravind had reportedly confided in his friend that he was sleeping separately with his room locked.
