New Delhi: A house disappeared into a sinkhole in Delhi’s Anna nagar area here as heavy rains lashed the national capital on Sunday morning.
The sinkhole got formed on the road within two hours of the rainfall and the house adjoining it collapsed.
Sharing the video of the house getting washed away in the rain, a Twitter user remarked “No, it’s not Bihar, this is our national capital New Delhi after merely two hours of heavy rainfall. One person drowned at Minto Road, houses washed away in sink hole near ITO, neck deep waterlogged streets. It was supposed to be a ‘ world class city’!”

Luckily no one was present at the house at the time of the incident. Following the incident, the Centralized Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) and fire engines rushed to the spot.
Earlier in the day a 56-year-old man died allegedly due to drowning after his mini-truck was submerged in water under the Minto Bridge in central Delhi, following a heavy downpour in the city on Sunday morning, police said.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Delhi witnessed rains from 5.30 am to 8.30 am on Sunday. While Ridge area recorded 8.6 cm of rainfall, Lodhi Road recorded 8.1 cm and Safdarjung recorded 7.5 cm of rainfall.
