Water level at Thumbay rises by a meter

Mangaluru: The water level at Thumbay vented dam has increased by up to a meter as of Friday. Presently the water level at the dam is at 3.35M.

The water level at Shambur dam has increased and hence the sluice gates have been dropped to conserve the water. Currently there is 13.25 M of water available here.

Amidst this, the TC of the pumping station at Thumbay dam has suffered damage due to a lighting strike and the repair work is being undertaken. In this backdrop, water supply will be affected for a period of a week.

Netravati river flow increases

Belthangady: In the backdrop of good rain received at catchment areas of Netravatri river, the flow of water in the river has increased. Good rains received along Charmadi ghat and nearby areas has increased the water level at the vented dam near the Snanada Ghatta at Dharmasthala and hence, the sluice gates have been removed for the water to flow. There was good rain in Bethangady and surrounding areas on Friday as well and it is almost as if the problem of lack of water plaguing the area has been resolved.
