PM Narendra Modi on Independence Day launched National Digital Health Mission, under which he said every Indian will get a national health ID. The national Health ID will be a repository of all health-related information of a person. The ID will store medical data, like prescriptions, diagnostic reports and discharge summaries, which would require the patient's consent to access. According to India Today, A person’s basic details and mobile or Aadhaar number would be required to make an ID. While the health ID has not been made mandatory yet, it was proposed earlier that linking it with Aadhaar will be optional if the person wishes to avail any government-linked subsidy scheme or direct cash transfer benefits. It is said that whenever a person visits a doctor or a pharmacy, or a lab, all the detail will be registered in this health card. From doctor appointment to the medication prescribed, medical tests, when were they done, every bit of detail will be available in your health profile, The Health ID is one of the six building-blocks of the National Digital Health Mission which are: HealthID, DigiDoctor, Health Facility Registry, Personal Health Record, e-Pharmacy and Telemedicine.
