Mangaluru: A day after Congress MLA U T Khader was booked for his ‘Karnataka will burn if CAA is implemented’ remark, district Congress leaders questioned why no cases were being booked against Ministers C.T. Ravi and Suresh Angadi for provocative remarks made by them.

Addressing presspersons here Ivan D’Souza, K. Harish Kumar pointed out at Tourism Minister CT Ravi’s recent remark warning of a “Godhra-like situation” if the majority lost patience and questioned if this was not tantamount to provocating people.

They also called out Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi for stating that anyone damaging Railways property should be “shot at sight” in the midst of nationwide protests over the amended Citizenship Act

“Are they not instigating people by their remarks? Why book a case only against Khader?” questioned Ivan.

Mangaluru South police, based on a complaint filed by pro-BJP Yuva Morcha secretary Sandesh Kumar Shetty, on Friday, filed a case against Khader under Sections 124 A (sedition), 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot).

Responding to a reporter’s query if his own statement was proper, Khader said he would “introspect” on it.
