Wild elephant attack: Policeman dies

Madikeri: ARSI Chennakeshava B C (48), who was serving at Kadagadalu Wireless Repeater Centre has breathed his last after succumbing to the grievous injuries that he had suffered during a wild elephant attack here in the taluk.

On the night of Sep 1st, the deceased was carrying out his duties at the centre. Early in the morning of the following day, he presumed that he heard some sound outside and proceeded to open the door when the wild elephant which was standing right outside the door attacked him, inflicting serious injury.

The critically injured ARSI was immediately rushed to the district hospital in the city from where, he was shifted to KVG hospital in Sullia and then to JSS hospital in Mysuru for further treatment. However, he failed to respond to the given treatment and lost his life on Sep 6th.

Chennakeshava was originally from Shanivarapete in Somvarpet and started his career as a policeman on July 1st 1996. Since the last two years, he was carrying out his duties at the regular division of the DAR centre , informed a release from the police department.
