He was speaking during the Tipu Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in Mysuru on Thursday.
Sait accused the BJP government in the state of “distorting history” relating to Tipu Sultan and said that it has become inevitable that his statue is installed to remind the future generation of the true legacy of Tipu.
“The Mughals ruled this country for 800 years. None of the rulers’ statues have been installed. Islam forbids erecting statues. But still, I will install a 100-feet tall statue of Tipu, to tell the truth about Tipu to the next generation,” Sait said.
