Pujari, who is currently representing Udupi-Chikkamagalur in the Lok Sabha will have to vacate his position in the Parishad if he secure victory in the upcoming elections.

With the BJP expected to secure three seats in the MLC election, discussions within the party have intensified regarding potential candidates for the vacant seat. Despite reservations from certain quarters, leaders from the coastal region along with some influential figures from the Sangh Parivar have voiced support for Kateel’s candidacy. Additionally, the name of former National General Secretary C.T. Ravi has emerged as another contender for the position.

Proponents of Kateel’s candidacy highlight his organizational prowess during his tenure as state president, commending his commitment to party discipline even amidst challenges faced by the government. Despite calls for a replacement candidate during previous electoral contests, Kateel remained steadfast in his loyalty to the party, garnering widespread respect within BJP circles.

Amidst the deliberations, there is also speculation surrounding the possibility of nominating Kateel for a Rajya Sabha membership, further adding to the intrigue surrounding the upper house race. Meanwhile, discussions persist regarding a potential interim arrangement for C.T. Ravi, underscoring the dynamic nature of the decision-making process within the BJP.
