Ensure no student misses SSLC exam: Suresh Kumar to officials

Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar on June 22 urged all deputy commissioners of all districts in the State to make sure that no student misses his or her avail the SSLC examination for any reason. In a video conference with all deputy commissioners, Zilla panchayat CEOs, Police officers, District health Officers, DDPOs the minister checked out the preparations for the SSLC examinations that will begin o June 25. He told all of them that as it is monsoon, all necessary measures should be taken to ensure that children in remote areas, residing in neighbouring States as well as those in areas prone to heavy rains. As some children rely on boats to reach their examination centres all kinds of arrangements must be made for them so that they do not have any trouble getting to the centre in time. Arrangements must also be made for students residing in the bordering districts within Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra. The DCs of these districts must be requested to arrange for the students to be brought upto the State's borders and from there we should arrange for them to reach their centres. Also, if there is a need for students who have trouble coming from neighbouring States then they must be provided food and accommodation at hostels in the taluks where their exam centres are located. Bus or jeeps must be arranged for them to reach the exam centre from the hostels, Suresh Kumar said. He added that separate rooms must be arranged for students coming from other States, especially those from containment areas and suffering from fever or cold. Chief Secretary of the Primary and Secondary Education Department S R Umashankar, Commissioner of the Public Education Department Dr K G Jagdish and other officials of the Department were present during the video conference.
