Farming included in school curriculum

Mangaluru: A CBSE school introduced “agriculture science” as part of its academic curriculum for students from class 5 to 10.

The Sharada Vidyanikethana Public School at Talapady has introduced “agriculture science” textbooks compulsorily for its students from class 5th std.

The school management has clarified that this is an effort to create an awareness and also interest among the young students on farming and agriculture. The younger generation should know about farming, cultivation and commercial crops.

The school has reserved 3.5 acres for the cultivation and in the coming days, the agriculture will also be extended to 7 acres of land.

Students from each class have to attend one practical and two theory classes in a week. Students will secure marks on theory and practical knowledge.
