Finish syllabus by end of month: DCM to universities

Bengaluru: Karnataka deputy chief minister and state higher education minister C. N. Ashwath Narayan asked the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of all the universities in the state to complete the curriculum of the graduating classes by the end of May by teaching online and complete the syllabus to prepare for the exam.

He held a video conference with all the University vice-chancellors on Saturday, May 9, and said that the decisions on exams for graduate will be taken post a meeting after May 17.

He directed all the professors to come to college and teach online to ensure the pending syllabus for this year is completed by May 30.

“In Maharashtra model, it has been suggested that only the final year students should take the exams and the first and second-year students can be promoted to next year without any exams. This will be discussed after May 17 and a final decision will be taken,” the minister said.

He also informed all universities’ VCs to confirm on a uniform curriculum for all the universities in Karnataka in 15 days.

Improvement of the evaluation system

Narayan has instructed the officials of the department to formulate a committee to submit its report on the improvement of the evaluation system within the next 15 days.
