Anganawadi workers and assistants remained on road in the state capital on Monday night without having proper food, water and sleep. The workers came from various parts of the state have spent their night from Mourya circle to Freedom park located in Bengaluru after Women and Child Welfare Minister of Karnataka Sate Umashri just visited the spot where the workers protesting and returned without assuring anything. Following Umashri’s ‘silent exit’ the workers decided to spend their night on the roads.
The Anganwadi workers have decided to continue with their protests until the government takes initiatives to fulfill their demands. For the timebeing, as many as 15, 000 Anganwadi workers and assistants came from around Karnataka state have been protesting against the government in Bengaluru and their number is very likely to rise as the number of protesters has witnessed an uptick on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy met the protesters in early hours of Tuesday morning and assured them to supply food and other essentials. However, the protesters rejected the offer from Kumaraswamy and urged him and the state government to solve their problems to get food for lifetime.
