Nagamma served in several key governmental positions, including Minister of Large and Medium Industries, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Notably, she played a pivotal role in advancing education, advocating for the compulsory use of Kannada medium from 1st to 4th standard and implementing 50% reservation for girls at the primary school level. Additionally, she provided advisory support to numerous state and zone-level education boards.
Within the Congress Party, Nagamma held various leadership roles, serving as State Vice President, General Secretary, and State President of the Women’s Unit. Her commitment to social welfare extended beyond politics, as she actively participated in initiatives through organizations like Vanita Samaj.
