According to sources, around 60 % and 70 % of the repair work has been completed and the water supply is expected to resume on Thursday night.

Following water leak in one of the pipelines on Sunday night, the corporation stopped pumping water through both its 18 MGD capacity pipelines on Monday.

Apparently, it took about a day to excavate land in the damaged area and time was also lost for draining water from the pipeline. Meanwhile, the welding work was being affected by the rain. Two pump sets are being used to pump out the water which got accumulated in the dug up pit due to the rain.

Since the city corporation failed to issue any statement regarding the damage of the main pipeline at Adyar, the public is clueless on why they are not receiving water. The lack of water supply has emptied water stored in their underground sumps of some houses are now resorting to collect rainwater which is also playing spoilsport. Meanwhile, some people hiring tankers for water amid rainfall due to no water supply.
