Bengaluru: The Karnataka Federation of Petroleum Traders has said that it will shut its 3,000 fuel stations throughout the state on all Sundays starting from May 14 and that the bunks would remain open for customers for only 12 hours during the day from May 15, 2017.

The decision comes after the Federation decided to support protests initiated by the Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) urging to end inconsistency in commission of petroleum dealers. However, petrol bunks located near National Highways have been exempted from the new decision taken by CIPD to avoid any inconvenience to travelers.

As part of the protests organized, petroleum dealers in India will hold ‘No Purchase Day’ on May 10 and accordingly dealers have decided not to purchase petroleum products from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) on that day urging the Union government to fulfill their long pending demands.
